I was one of the first fifteen people in Australia to hear the new Rammstein album *cue eye-roll*…

Sentinel Daily were invited to Universal Music‘s Forbes Street Studios in Sydney last night to a listening party to hear Rammstein in all its glory. Along with signing over our first born and an order of fries as collateral to keep our mouths tight lipped we leapt onto the blue velour couch inside the studio with our free beer in hand and proceeded to hear the elements of the new record come to life through speakers worth more than my mates first apartment….

As we have all had a taste of the new album; being the title track, Deutschland – released already as a single – we were salivating at the thought of new material from the Germans – ten years in the making. No pressure…

The two young budding journos either side of me were furiously playing air guitar, so I thought, fuck it….. And started playing the tambourine. Track by track the passion intensified and the affection for each track seemed pretty much instantaneous. Track by track we all look at one another with gasps, hoof pumps and fist bumps. The mood was palpable…

Although I can’t tell you anything about the album, the tracks, the track listing, the style, the critique, the instrumentation or the lyrics until May 13 – I can tell you this – the whole experience was sensational.

I’d never partaken in a listening party before, I thought the whole preface kind of ‘wanky’ however it was a different review experience for me as a music buff – I have not been part of a melting pot of journos locked in the one room before; all collaborating and discussing our thoughts on the album – at times clashing in opinions, but all sharing in the mutual adoration. It was very new to me and a welcome treat. I could go on all day about the grandeur of this album with infuriating ambiguity yet as Rammstein fans are on the edge of their seats with anticipation for May 18th all I can give you right now is to hold your head up as your jaw is going to come crashing to the floor….

(We might not be able to tell you more about the album – Alice values her first born and fries too much for that – but we can let you have a look at the two videos thus far released from the album – enjoy! – ed).
