Astrodeath, the Aussie metal duo who last month launched their new video for the single Red Weed, continue their tour of the same name this weekend. The clip for Red Weed contains electrifying live footage of the band on their recent jaunt to the Northern Territory at Blacken Open Air Festival and their headlining set at Thrashville Festival in New South Wales. This mesmerising dance at the edge of oblivion is at once seductive and daunting: long-forgotten melodies and rhythms elicit ancient memories from our ancestral unconscious, awakening us on a deep sense-level to the frantic message of warning the song carries within.

The single is lifted from Astrodeath’s brand-new album VOL.2; Conjuring a mountainous sound borne of madness and revelation, Astrodeath report back from the precipice, bringing us haunting visions of a blind and indifferent universe and the hideous, mindless creations that lie in wait, insatiable in their desire to dominate and devour.

Since 2018, Astrodeath have brought this musical mesmerism to audiences all across Australia, showing an uncanny ability to fit alongside bands from the stoner/doom, punk, hard rock and extreme metal scenes, effortlessly floating between genres. Their formidable work ethic has seen them sharing the stage with such luminaries as 1000 Mods, Nick Oliveri, Svetlanas, Beastwars, Revocation, Neptune Power Federation, Lo!, and Black Rheno. In 2022, Astrodeath headlined Thrashville Festival and delivered a legendary performance at Blacken Open Air in Alice Springs, culminating in dozens of rabid fans joining the band onstage.
