For our latest classic programme we head back again to 1982 and UFO‘s British tour in support of their then-current album, Mechanix…
The tour took place in January of that year, taking in eighteen dates and culminating in a two night stint at the legendary Hammersmith Odeon in London. Being a January tour, UFO’s people came upon the wonderful idea of formatting the programme as a handy – and very useful calendar…
The band’s full set at Hammersmith on the last night of the tour was :
We Belong to the Night
Let It Rain
Long Gone
The Wild, the Willing and the Innocent
Only You Can Rock Me
No Place to Run
Love to Love
Doing It All for You
Makin’ Moves
Too Hot to Handle
Lights Out
Mystery Train
Encore:
Doctor Doctor

Newcastle City Hall.Got it signed by Gerry Laffy from the support act Girl who were excellent that night as well.
As the live clip attests, they were in pretty good form on this tour!
First night at Hammersmith for me. They started with a bang, ended with a whimper and shuddered to a halt 20 minutes in.
This was due to Mogg getting into an a
verbal altercation with someone in the first few rows, stage left. 5 minutes is a long time sat on a drum riser in a huff in front of 3 and a half thousand people.
Up til then, utterly brilliant. After that the momentum had gone. The dressing room must have been an interesting place to be afterwards.
I think the UFO dressing room at that time would always have been interesting…
